Hi, I’m Cara Robertson, owner of Bare Necessities Tutor. I specialize in helping struggling readers build the foundational skills they need to become confident, successful readers.
Over the past eight years, I have worked with PreK and elementary-aged students through classroom teaching, small group instruction, and one-on-one tutoring. This includes five years as a special education teacher, where I developed a passion for helping students who need individualized support to succeed.
I hold a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia, a Special Education certification through the GACE, a Master’s in Early Elementary Education from the American College of Education, and a Reading Specialist degree from Georgia Southern. My approach is calm, encouraging, and focused on building strong literacy skills through research-based instruction in phonics, fluency, and comprehension.
In addition to tutoring, I provide IEP coaching for parents who want support navigating the special education process. Drawing on my experience in special education, I help families prepare for meetings, understand their options, and advocate for their child's needs.
I offer online tutoring for elementary students and am passionate about helping struggling readers gain confidence and make meaningful progress.
Supporting students and families through their educational journey is not just what I do. It is what I love.
